Not only is massage very beneficial during pregnancy but postpartum massage is also very important for the many adjustments to come in motherhood.

After giving birth and having a baby to take care of, attention turns from the mother to the baby.  This is a crucial time to continue to care for the mother as well, as she now faces a whole new set of life challenges and adjustments to come. This is the time for her to be taken care of and nurtured through these very special times in her family life. If mum is too tired and run down it affects herself as well as all the family members.

Massage is a  very beneficial tool to support mothers through this amazing new time in their life.

Massage is a beautiful way to honour the new mother and give her the chance to reconnect with her body again. Breastfeeding will create new postures and holding positions for the mother. Neck, Shoulder and Back strain can become a common complaint as will tiredness and possibly lack of sleep.

SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE ARE :

  • Improves realignment of the pelvis
  • Reduces sore aching muscles during the pregnancy, delivery and during breastfeeding.
  • Provides emotional support in a time of adjusting to a new baby and their needs.
  • Boosts the immune system.
  • Reduces stress and anxiety.

Research proves that massage improves the quality of sleep. Proper rest is vitally important for us all and it becomes vitally important for a new mother. Sometimes this might be hard to achieve, massage can help in reducing the stress associated with lack of sleep.

Receiving regular massages can help keep your muscles, joints and tendons loose and more supple. It can improve range of motion and help to lengthen muscles contracted by knots and tight spots.

Massage is a wonderful gift for any mother.
