Dr James Connell is an RACGP accredited General Practitioner with special interests in chronic pain, palliative care, musculoskeletal medicine, chronic disease management and mental health. He enjoys the complexity and diversity of general practice but has seen limitations with commonly prescribed medications for difficult to treat conditions. With a desire to help patients find relief from their symptoms, Dr James has developed a strong interest in using cannabis medicine in combination with traditional medical treatments and care. Dr James beliefs in a holistic approach and encourages and educates his patients about lifestyle interventions, physical therapies and mindfulness strategies.
Dr James’ specialised knowledge in the field of cannabis medicine has enabled him to complete hundreds of successful applications to the TGA for a diverse range of conditions including chronic pain, endometriosis, opioid addiction, anxiety, depression, insomnia, neurodegenerative disorders, autoimmune inflammatory conditions, behavioural disturbances, treatment resistant epilepsy, cancer and chemotherapy and many more.
Due to the safety profile, tolerability and multifaceted benefit he has seen from cannabis interventions, Dr James is passionate about making this medicine more available and enjoys educating others about this complex medicine. Dr James also equips his patients with knowledge on how to upregulate their bodies own natural endocannabinoid system, the powerful homeostatic mechanism through which cannabis medicine exerts its diverse therapeutic effects.
