Emma Perry graduated with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science from the University of Sunshine Coast at the end of 2018. Prior to graduating Emma undertook various work experiences using exercise in the tailored management of cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory diseases, neurological conditions, musculoskeletal injury and rehabilitation in private practice. She has a strong understanding and appreciation for the value of exercise in maintaining health and healing for those suffering chronic disease, and works in this space to foster self-management.
Emma also had the opportunity to conduct work experience for a non-for profit organisation Bloomhill on the Sunshine Coast, where she learnt the value of, and the positive outcomes exercise has in cancer care; a population she now has a special interest in, advocating exercise for mitigating symptoms and side effects of treatment.
In addition, Emma has also spent time working with young athletes in various athletic development programs across a diverse range of sports, including motocross, surfing and NFL, with a large focus on injury prevention. Emma loves working in musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation; particularly shoulder, hip, knee and foot related rehabilitation and return to function.
Due to past and personal experience Emma has a deep interest in furthering her knowledge in the new and growing space of exercise, in the care of those suffering from eating disorders. Emma hopes to use this knowledge to educate, empower and heal in this space, with exercise at every stage.
Through various centres of care Emma has become a strong believer in movement, play and body freedom for all ages, advocating a holistic approach to health and exercise as medicine for the most important vehicle we will ever own… our body!
In her spare time Emma enjoys exploring what the Sunshine Coast has to offer, uncovering uncharted places and culinary delights.
