Practitioner Profile
Dr Peta Maguire is an empathetic and committed clinical psychologist with over seven years’ experience working across both government and non-government settings. She partners with children, adolescents, and families to navigate emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges with genuine warmth, presence, and psychological expertise.
Drawing primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Peta is adept at integrating other evidence-based frameworks to suit each person’s unique needs. Her work is collaborative, strengths-based, and goal-oriented—grounded in the belief that people do best when they feel supported, understood, and empowered.
Peta uses psychometric assessments and screening tools as part of her process—this helps her build a clear, multi-contextual understanding of what’s going on, so her therapy is focused, meaningful, and grounded in what will work best for each individual.
Beyond individual therapy, she also offers family-based sessions to strengthen communication, foster attachment, build social skills, and support positive coping strategies. She deeply values collaborating with parents, carers, and other care providers—believing that lasting change often occurs within relationships and systems, not just in sessions.
