Practitioner Profile
Dwan holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Myotherapy and has 10 years experience in both a professional sporting setting and private clinics. Her passion to become a Clinical Myotherapist started through having Scoliosis herself. She wanted to make it easy for patients to get individualised pain relief as she personally found it difficult.
She started her career treating AFL and NRL teams as well as international and domestic Soccer and Cricket teams. In a private clinic setting she is eager to treat your everyday pain complaints, as well as sporting or exercise injuries. She loves problem solving and getting to the root causes of your pain and educating you on everything you need to know to stop the pain recurring. She really tries to make sure your treatment plan is structured and tailored to you. Dwan has found that patient education and lifestyle modification is key to a patient’s prognosis and future wellbeing.
Dwan has undertaken additional training with Scoliosis Physiotherapy in Melbourne and Queensland Scoliosis clinics to further her knowledge in Scoliosis, the treatment methods available and how to recognise it in her patients. Dwan has a treatment approach that focuses strongly on researched treatment and movement methods (The McKenzie Method), self-treatment tools, patient education, lifestyle modification, and strengthening exercises which allows the patient to take their recovery into their own hands. When performing hands on treatment, some of the modalities she uses are trigger point therapy, dry needling, active cupping, massage, and joint mobilisation. She is a passionate therapist looking to provide long lasting pain relief to the Sunshine Coast community.
